MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) - Belarus aims to expand trade and economic cooperation with Chinese regions, Belarusian First Deputy Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said at a meeting of the working group on interregional trade and economic cooperation of the Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The online event was hosted by the Great Stone Industrial Park. According to Yuri Chebotar, some economic indicators of cooperation between Belarus and China have reached a fairly high level. “In H1 2023, mutual trade exceeded $4 billion, with Belarusian exports approaching record high $1 billion. The number of accredited enterprises in China, aimed at supplying food products to the Chinese market, has almost reached 200. At the same time, the potential for cooperation in this area is still greatly untapped. In trade, we need to more actively explore the Chinese market through internet platforms and register new pavilions of Belarusian goods. We suggest industrial clusters as an important form of interregional cooperation. We aim to set up sub-parks of Shaanxi, Jilin and other Chinese provinces in the Great Stone, taking into account their specialization profiles,” he said.

According to the first deputy economy minister, in March 2023 the initiative of deepening trade and economic partnership of Belarus with the largest cities of China: Chongqing, Tianjin, Qingdao, and also the Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shaanxi and Jilin provinces was supported at the highest level.

“Belarus will make every effort to implement promising projects to expand interregional trade and economic cooperation between our countries,” Yuri Chebotar said.
