MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – The importance of selling Belarusian goods to African countries was mentioned by Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik to a BelTA reporter. The official took part in expanded-participation negotiations of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in the Palace of Independence on 7 September, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Rogozhnik said: “We pay close attention to the development of deliveries to African countries. At present we ship most of our exports to Russia. It is very important to diversify shipments, this is why our attention is directed towards countries of Asia, Africa, and America as well.”

The industry minister continued: “We can offer the entire model range of products made by the mechanical engineering industry such as tractors, harvesters, and trucks. The range also includes household appliances: TV sets made by the holding company Horizont, refrigerators. In other words, absolutely all the products made by Industry Ministry enterprises.”

Aleksandr Rogozhnik underlined: “We expect Equatorial Guinea to become kind of a hub for shipping Belarusian products to countries of the African continent.”

Negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko were the central component of the official visit of the Equatorial Guinea president to Belarus. The negotiations involved smaller delegations and larger delegations and took place in the Palace of Independence. A package of bilateral documents was signed as a result of the negotiations. The documents are aimed at advancing the relations in a broad range of avenues starting with economy and ending with humanitarian affairs. The documents include an intergovernmental framework agreement on economic, trade, cultural, scientific, and technical interaction between Belarus and Equatorial Guinea.
