MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to ramp up food export to Kaliningrad Oblast, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told a press conference for Russian regional mass media – participants of the traditional press tour around Belarus, BelTA has learned.
A Russian journalist remarked that Kaliningrad Oblast is the region most dependent on food imports in Russia. Asked whether Belarus is ready to increase food export to that region, the President replied: "If there are problems, it is only because the region authorities are not doing enough. You are welcome to come visit us. We will agree on the food supplies, legitimately and legally, without violating any embargos. We can redirect some 1-2% of the export from the Russian main territory to Kaliningrad,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
Alexander Lukashenko stated that Belarus is able to provide Kaliningrad Oblast with everything necessary. He also added that Kaliningrad can be called the area of Belarus’ responsibility.
