MOSCOW, 12 April (BelTA) - Belarus has suggested supplementing the industrialization map of the Eurasian Economic Union with projects in petrochemistry, metal products and building materials, official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission Iya Malkina said at a briefing for the press in Moscow on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

"The Belarusian Economy Ministry has proposed to add five more projects in production of metal products, petrochemicals and construction materials industry to the industrialization map. These and other proposals of our countries will be considered at the next meeting of the Commission on Cooperation and Import Substitution in Priority and High-Tech Industries under the chairmanship of Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agriculture of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Artak Kamalyan," Iya Malkina said.

On the suggestion of the member states, the EEC constantly updates the EAEU industrialization map, Iya Malkina noted. Twenty-five projects from the map have already been implemented in the automotive, machine-tool, electrical, chemical, metallurgical industries and other industries for a total amount of more than $21 billion.

"These, for example, include the projects to manufacture bleached sulfate cellulose in the amount of 270,000 tonnes per year at the Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill; the production of cardboard in the amount of 200,000 tonnes per year at the Belorusskie Oboi holding company; construction of a mining and processing complex at the Shalkiya ore deposit in Kyzylorda region in Kazakhstan (design capacity - 4 million tonnes of ore, 100,000 tonnes of zinc in zinc concentrate and 20,000 tonnes of lead in lead concentrate per year), production of KAMI Nimble light commercial vehicles in Kyrgyzstan with a design capacity of 1,200 units per year; a Russian project in cooperation with Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant to produce all-terrain truck cranes with a carrying capacity of 100 tonnes or more and other projects," the EEC representative said.

"Work on the projects from the EAEU industrialization map continues in 2023. Thus, according to the Belneftekhim petrochemical concern, Belshina has complete the project to launch the production of all-steel cord tires up to 63 inches for rock haulers and mining equipment. According to the Russian Energy Ministry, projects in the energy sector are in progress, which is also important for the development of industry in the EAEU. For example, PAO Lukoil has implemented the project to set up a deep oil refining complex," Iya Malkina added.
