MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarus has recovered from the initial shock caused by Western sanctions and is intent on securing economic growth, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko.

Roman Golovchenko remarked that the sanctions enforced against Belarus exist but are no longer perceived as the key hindrance for development.

Roman Golovchenko said: “We’ve done everything we had to do. We’ve rebuilt everything we could – logistics, transactions, and flows. As we’d promised, in April we virtually reached the level we had last year and will continue growing month after month. We no longer feel any shock. There were a lot of incomprehensible things in the past. But I believe that we’ve turned that page now.”

The prime minister remarked that attempts to scare Belarus with stronger sanctions or tougher sanctions still continue. But there is confidence in this situation and contacts with the CIS states have been established. “For small Belarus it is enough to build equal and mutually beneficial economic relations,” Roman Golovchenko stated.

“So, will we secure economic victory?” the reporters asked the prime minister.

“I am sure of it,” Roman Golovchenko responded.
