MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Belarus' foreign trade grew from $26.8 billion in January-April 2022 to $30.6 billion in January-April 2023, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

The country’s foreign trade in January-April 2023 exceeded the level of similar periods not only in 2020 and 2021, but also in the pre-sanctions year of 2019. Thus, the data indicate that the Belarusian economy is effectively coping with the sanctions pressure.

Exports of goods and services increased by 9.9% compared to January-April 2022, including exports of goods - by 13.8%, which confirms the growing demand for Belarusian goods.
Imports of goods and services are growing faster (by 18.4% compared to January-April 2022) due to low imports in March-April 2022 ($2.8 billion per month on average). The average monthly imports in January-April 2023 ($3.8 billion) are comparable to that in 2021 ($3.8 billion) and the remaining months of 2022 ($3.7 billion).

The surplus of foreign trade in goods and services in January-April 2023 made up $203.3 million.
