Belarus boosts cooperation with China’s Jiangsu Province

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ Consul General in Shanghai Andrei Andreyev has paid a visit to the city of Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The consul general took part in international events organized by China as part the efforts to expand cooperation on the use of the China-Europe railway route, in particular, in the Forum of International Cooperation and the Forum of International Trade and Sustainable Development. The events were opened by Ding Xuexiang, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, who read out the greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and called for joint efforts to develop China-Europe freight express trains.

Andrei Andreyev held a number of meetings to discuss areas of cooperation between Belarus and Jiangsu Province and the city of Lianyungang.

Together with the authorities of Ganyu District, Lianyungang and the Jiangsu International Rail Freight Express Company, the Belarusian diplomat took part in the opening of the international electronic trade and logistics platform Belt and Road Portal, including the online broadcasting of sales of Belarusian food products.

In an interview with the local media, the consul general stressed that Belarus, as a reliable partner of China in the Belt and Road Initiative, ensured stable and safe China-Europe-China railway communication, making a significant contribution to the overall efforts to stabilize and restore the world economy.

Andrei Andreyev emphasized that work was currently underway to expand cooperation with Jiangsu Province, including the use of rail freight terminals of the Belt and Road routes to supply Belarusian products.
