MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus maintains robust economic ties with different regions of the world, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at the opening of the ninth session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation in Minsk on 20 September, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus maintains robust economic ties with different regions of the world, as evidenced by at least the issues that we discussed during the inter-sessional period with MPs and representatives of diplomatic missions of Iran, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Cuba, Laos, and Saudi Arabia.

“Belarus maintains long-term strategic relations with such major countries as China, India, Turkey, and a number of other friendly states of Eurasia. During this session we must attach a special emphasis on ways to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with them," said Vladimir Andreichenko.

It is also necessary to consistently step up ties with inter-parliamentary organizations of geographically distant countries. "Such an opportunity will present itself this autumn during the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly," the speaker said.

"But the most important priority for us is the cooperation in the post-Soviet space, in the CIS IPA. Taking into account the recent alarming trends, the role and importance of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CSTO as a full-fledged defense bloc is seriously increasing. Belarus will soon assume the chairmanship in this organization. It is important for us to think over the forms and ways of our participation in the implementation of its priorities," Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized.
