Gatovsky Estate in Krasny Bereg

An ancient estate in the village of Krasny Bereg, built in the second half of the 19th century to become an architectural "pearl" of the renowned Golden Ring of Gomel Oblast, reopens its doors to the public after a makeover. The palace got its unique, fairy-like looks after its owner Lieutenant General Mikhail Gatovsky invited Viktor Shreter, a well-known architect from Saint Petersburg. The exquisite interior blended the elements of more than ten styles – the Gothic and Romance, Renaissance, Rococo, Mannerism, Empire Style, Classicism… This unique combination also features a rare Arab Alhambra which, apart from the estate in Krasny Bereg, can be found only in the palace of Emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar in Granada. The owners wanted everything in the palace to be designed in a way as to captivate visitors: magnificent rooms, luxurious furniture of the time of Louis XVI, a large collection of paintings, English faience, French porcelain, and Venetian glass. The palace was surrounded by a picturesque park created by the main gardener of Warsaw. It took many years for restoration workers to renovate the facades and the unique interior decorations of the palace. Now it is gradually being furnished and accessorized. Watch a tour of the palace in our video.
