Belarus hosted the European Deer Calling Championship for the first time. The event was held in Belovezhskaya Pushcha, the oldest European forest. By the way, today the famous national park has the largest population of deer in Belarus: about 1,800 head. Hunters and expert deer callers from nine different European nations gathered for the competition. Participants went on stage with everything from sea shells to metal pipes, to a traditional telescoping call. They were required to imitate various deer calls such as mating grunts, challenges between rival stags, and the roar of a victory... A multi-national judging panel awarded scores from behind a wooden screen. The main prize of the championship - a certificate for a new carbine – went to hunter from Poland Tomasz Malinski. The second prize was awarded to Jan Brtnik from Czech Republic and third to Jan Skrzetuski from Poland. Video
