MOSCOW, 27 June (BelTA) – In his televised address to the nation on the evening of 26 June, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko for brokering the deal to end the mutiny attempt in Russia, BelTA has learned.

“I appreciate the efforts and contribution of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the peaceful resolution of the situation,” Vladimir Putin emphasized.

He thanked those commanders and soldiers of the Wagner private company who took the only right decision and stopped at the last line to prevent bloodshed. He said he would honor his promise to allow Wagner forces to relocate to Belarus if they wanted, sign a contract with Russia’s Defence Ministry or return to their families.
