Peace, stability named key results of 2016 in Belarus

Peace, stability named key results of 2016 in Belarus

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Not everything worked out in 2016, but we managed to maintain peace, stability and social security in the country, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the members of the public, representatives of the Belarusian and foreign mass media on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“We will discuss the results of 2016 for sure. Not everything worked out well. There were serious external factors. They were absolutely decisive. But, we failed to do a lot ourselves. We need to talk this over. The main thing we managed to do was to preserve peace, stability and social security,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The President added that the reasoning about stability is not empty talk, as some may think.

“In order to move forward we need to talk about the most topical issues in a frank way. It is not a secret that there are powers (both here and abroad) who dream of dragging Belarus into conflicts and chaos. Not everyone likes our peaceful life. Today the society needs, more than ever, a spiritual strength and consolidation, and also the understanding of the responsibility for the future of their country. Let us think about the future of our children, our loved ones,” the head of state said.

People of different beliefs and opinions have gathered here today. “However, we are all united: we are all devoted to our Fatherland, our independent Belarus,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.
