Lukashenko: Quality is not only about economy, but primarily about people

Lukashenko: Quality is not only about economy, but primarily about people

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – At an Old New Year reception Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the quality of life depends not only on economy and production, but primarily on people themselves, BelTA has learned.

The president recalled that throughout the year 2023, Belarus was moving towards peace through creation, it was strengthening the unity, values and foundations of the Belarusian state.

This year has been declared the Year of Quality in Belarus. “I want you to understand one thing: quality is not only about economy and production. Probably, it comes first, it is important. But first of all, it is about people,” the head of state noted.

“The point I am trying to make is that if every person, all Belarusians, our guests, our neighbors, friends remember this year as the Year of Quality, then it will be successful. Therefore, we need to do everything to ensure that quality permeates every aspect of people’s lives,” explained Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The president emphasized that people in Belarus know how to make their lives better, but sometimes quality is inadequate: “We know how to do things, we know how to live, but we need to do it efficiently.”

This is especially important on the media front, where journalists and experts have to work almost in warlike conditions, the head of state emphasized. “We don’t yet have (although we often talk about it) an information war. Not yet. We must do everything to prevent it from happening,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. “But there is a fierce confrontation. It always begins with internal disarray, and is accompanied by a media confrontation, and then an information war. I would not like this process to continue in the same vein. It must be stopped,” the head of state said.

Addressing journalists, the president emphasized: “Be very careful and cautious. Remember: we are walking on thin ice. Words are very important today and they need to hit the target, in a certain direction, but it should be done very carefully and cautiously. And you should not overdo it. Words and facts are our main weapons in the fight for spirituality, traditional values and true meanings.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished everyone that 2024 would be filled with remarkable, memorable, good events, that the most cherished dreams would come true, and that it would become a great time for new ideas and new achievements.

“I have no doubts that we will handle all problems and fulfil all tasks with dignity. After all, for true patriots who shape the present and future of our Belarus with actions and aspirations, the fate of the Fatherland is the most important and valuable thing,” said the head of state.

The president wished the participants of the reception to have warm and joyful memories of this event.
