Lukashenko gives children advice on how to succeed in life

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave children advice on how to succeed in life as he attended the New Year Eve’s children's charity event held as part of the country’s charity campaign Our Children in the Palace of the Republic on 28 December, BelTA has learned.

“I know that the children who have gathered here have different backgrounds and different lives. I know that life has not been kind to some of you. I just want to give you a piece of advice as I had a tough childhood myself: everything is in your hands! If you want, you will become strong Belarusians worth the name. Someone will chose a prestigious career in IT, someone will become a good plant grower and love their land. Someone will become a teacher, or a great scientist and so on. You hold the key to your future. You just need to show more patience and perseverance. This applies to everyone,” the head of state said.

“Therefore, live a peaceful and calm life, don’t worry too much about things that don’t really matter,” the Belarusian leader remarked.

Before wishing Happy New Year to the children, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Father Frost and Snow Maiden are always busy and have a lot of friends. “That’s why I thought that it would be a good idea to give them gifts on my behalf and on your behalf. It will be fun and it will make them happy,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. The children upheld this proposal with thunderous applause.

Having presented the gifts, the head of state noted that this time of the year makes children very happy and excited; they are looking forward to gifts and New Year’s magic. “These holidays are the happiest, jolliest time. No matter what problems we have, we are always happy about the New Year and, most importantly, about the holidays. Secondly, the New Year is like no other time of the year. You are looking forward to receiving gifts. Adults, and especially people of your age... I was about to call you ‘children’. But are you still children? You have grown so much looking at things unfolding everywhere around you. You have grown up. You have grown up early. Yet, you are waiting for gifts, and we will give you small souvenirs from the president after this performance, which is our main gift. This New Year’s magic show has been prepared by our wonderful artists,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko praised the children for what they have achieved. “First of all, you have done a great job! There are no random people here. All of you deserve to be at this wonderful event. There are 3,000 attendees along with the accompanying teachers and parents. You will grow into outstanding personalities, you will shape the future of our country, our Belarus. You are amazing, and thank you for your hard work and commitment to your studies at such an age. I really hope that in addition to school, you also do enough sports. I recommend you to do it in order to look good and also to be healthy. I would like to ask you to continue to make your parents and educators proud,” the president emphasized.
