Kochanova: Independent states like Belarus are a burr in West’s saddle

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Such independent welfare states as Belarus are a burr in the saddle for the West, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova said as she met with employees of Minsk House Building Plant, BelTA has learned.

“You see that the political situation around our country is really complicated. If it was not clear enough for someone back in 2020, three years later everyone saw that there was a clear intention to destroy our country. Countries such as ours are a burr in the saddle for many, as we are masters of our own destiny, we cherish our traditions, and everything in the country is done for people. Yet, the most important thing is to understand that we must preserve the country. We will not be happy anywhere else in the world,” said Natalya Kochanova.

Belarus has established itself as a sovereign, independent country in the course of 30 years. “We clearly remember the developments that led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. That state was gone. And after that we have built a beautiful country. Today everyone who comes here says: this is an amazing country. People are free to study, work, create families, give birth to children. Everyone has an opportunity to fulfill themselves in our country as Belarus has created a conducive and empowering environment for that,” the speaker noted.

“Maintaining a welfare state is our priority,” Natalya Kochanova emphasized. “In order for our people to keep enjoying social benefits, enterprises should keep working, their tax contributions are used to pay pensions, child benefits, to fund healthcare, buy modern equipment and pay salaries to doctors, teachers, to maintain the security of our country and peace on our streets. This is worth a lot. And all this, of course, requires financing. For this, enterprises like yours should keep working.”
