Kochanova: Belarus develops cooperation with Tatarstan in every area

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and Tatarstan is developing on all fronts, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with a delegation of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan led by Chairman Farid Mukhametshin, BelTA correspondent reports.

“The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Tatarstan are bound by good, friendly relations - there is no doubt about it. Our cooperation is developing on all fronts. This is confirmed by numerous visits to our country and the trade that exists between our countries today,” Natalya Kochanova said.

According to the speaker, cooperation develops within the governments and ministries, including in agriculture. Belneftekhim, Bellegprom, Belgospishcheprom are Belarusian concerns that take an active part in cooperation. According to Natalya Kochanova, there is still a lot of work to be done.

The chairwoman of the Council of the Republic stated that the meeting was taking place on the eve of important political events in Belarus and Russia. 2024 also marks a landmark date, which the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders. Belarus will host a number of celebrations, at which the speaker would be glad to see guests from Tatarstan. Natalya Kochanova added that Belarus had recently celebrated the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad.

The speaker also mentioned the upcoming Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is due to take place in Belarus’ Vitebsk, Polotsk and Novopolotsk on 27-28 June. “We would like to show you both the industrial and cultural potential of our country, the origins of our statehood,” she said. “We hope that Tatarstan's delegation will attend the Forum of Regions. We will be signing new contracts and agreements. Our colleagues in all regions of our country are gearing up for this.”

Natalya Kochanova also drew attention to the importance of cooperation between the youth of the two countries. According to the speaker, a youth council has been set up at the National Assembly of Belarus. “Our young people are actively working with the youth from the Russian Federation. The Memory Train project has been held for three years already,” she said.

The chairperson added said, apart from young people from Belarus and Russia, representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Armenia participated in this patriotic project last year. Plans are in place to involve Azerbaijan this year. Talks are also held with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Returning to the major goal of the delegation's visit, the chairperson of the Council of the Republic expressed hope that the visit would be productive. “We sincerely wish you a successful stay in Belarus,” she said.
