BARANOVICHI, 6 January (BelTA) – The deployment of the regional military force is supposed to cool off hotheads in the West, BelTA learned from State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich.

Aleksandr Volfovich said: “The decision to deploy the regional military force in Belarus’ territory was made by the presidents of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation back in 2022. The force has been successfully deployed. Joint combat training sessions with Russian military personnel and Belarusian military personnel have been organized. The regional military force is an element of strategic deterrence. An element, which is probably supposed to cool off hotheads of the West with its aggressive policy towards the Union State of Belarus and Russia.”

The state secretary went on saying that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko closely monitors the combat readiness of army units, progress and quality of combat training events in view of the complicated military and political situation and the growing military activity of the NATO bloc in neighboring countries. He gets regular reports and today the president decided to do a personal inspection and take a look at how combat training events are organized in a military exercise area, Aleksandr Volfovich added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko checked the quality of combat training of a Belarusian army unit. While in a military exercise area near Baranovichi he talked to Russian military personnel, who belong to the Belarus-Russia regional military force and are going through combat shakedown together with Belarusian army units.

Aleksandr Volfovich stressed: “Our neighbors are pursuing a policy, which is far from peace-loving. This is why the decision to deploy the regional military force was made. It has purely defensive goals. It is designed to protect primarily western borders of the Union State.”

In his words, the Russian military personnel remark upon the warm welcome extended by Belarusian army units. “Hospitality is well-developed and customary in the military. But our Belarusian component here is entrusted with providing comprehensive support, with the organization of training sessions, with logistics, technical support matters, hardware repairs. All of these matters have been properly handled,” the state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus summarized.
