Minsk more popular with foreign tourists

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Minsk travel companies provided services to 116,500 foreign citizens who visited Belarus in 2018. For comparison: 98,700 people visited Minsk in 2017 and 88,200 in 2016, BelTA learned from the Minsk main statistics office.

Russians accounted for 67.5% of the total number of visitors from abroad. Most valuable tourism source markets included Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, China, Israel, the United Kingdom, Germany, Iraq, and Estonia. The average period of stay in Minsk was four days.

With regard to domestic tourism, Minsk travel companies provided services to 26,500 tourists (23,300 in 2017) and 112,600 sightseers (110,000).

There are 67 hotels and similar accommodation places in Minsk. Last year they provided services to 785,700 people, of them 76.5% were foreign visitors (48.4% from the CIS countries). Some 5,400 people spent holidays in Minsk’s six health resorts organizations, of them 15.3% were foreign citizens.
