MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) -  The Khatyn Memorial Complex drew more than 500,000 visitors in 2023, the head of the culture directorate of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Alla Shakhotko said at the board meeting of the committee, BelTA has learned.

"A permanent exhibition of a new museum in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War in the Khatyn memorial complex was opened in 2023 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy. Over the past year, the Khatyn museum drew 525,600 visitors, which made up 185% of the 2022 numbers. The new museum was a major contributor to the increase in the visitor numbers," Alla Shakhotko said.

“Thanks to many years of work by the employees of the Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Zaslavl we unveiled the Museum of Belarusian Malyavanki (painted rug) in May 2023. It was visited by more than 101,000 people,” Alla Shakhotko informed.
