Century-old history of Belarusian avant-garde on display in Minsk

Exhibition Avant-gARTe. From Square to ObjectMINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – The history of the rise of the modern art is presented in the project, Hundred Years of Belarusian Avant-Garde. The exposition opened at the Museum of Modern Visual Arts on 22 April, BelTA learnt from coordinator on the press Veronika Molokova.

The expo features the works that illustrate the development of the national informal art from the 1910s to the 1990s. Painting, graphics, installations, photo, art objects is on show telling the public about the avant-garde associations of the 20th century and the creative work of artists-nonconformists.

Exhibition Avant-gARTe. From Square to ObjectArtist Olga Sazykina has restored the installations she made in the 1980s especially for the exhibition. The museum will feature a slide show of the first Belarusian performances. The exposition was composed with the help of the Museum of Modern Visual Arts, the National Art Museum and private collectors.

Exhibition Avant-gARTe. From Square to ObjectThe project, Hundred Years of Belarusian Avant-Garde, makes part of a large-scale exhibition, Avant-gARTe. From Square to Object. It is located on several platforms - the BelExpo exhibition center, the Museum of Modern Visual Arts and on Yakub Kolas Square. On 23 April Yakub the organizers will present an open-air exposition, An Artist and the City. BelART.by.

Exhibition Avant-gARTe. From Square to ObjectThe exhibition, Avant-gARTe. From Square to Object, will be held during the 2014 IIHF World Championship and will include a program of lectures of art critics and culture experts, seminars, master classes, demonstrations of avant-garde collections of national designers and meetings with Belarusian artists.

The organizers include the Culture Ministry of Belarus, the Minsk City Hall, the Museum of Modern Visual Arts, and the Center of Modern Art.
