Belarusian national sports awards 2014 presented

MINSK, 6 January (BelTA) - On 5 January Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 5 “Concerning the special prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus The Belarusian Sports Olympus 2014”, BelTA learned from the presidential press service.

For vigorous efforts to promote physical education and sport, develop physical education and sports traditions which benefit the harmonious development of the personality the special prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus have been conferred on the coach and athlete of the Belarusian national athletics team Marina Arzamasova, coach and teacher of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Olympic Training Center Irina Ilyenkova, athletics coach and teacher of Minsk children’s Olympic training school No. 2 Natalia Shikolenko.

Marina Arzamasova became the 2014 European 800m champion and came in third at the IAAF World Indoor Championship.

Irina Ilyenkova reached good results in the training of many-times winners and medalists of international rhythmic gymnastics competitions.

Natalia Shikolenko is a high-class professional who applies cutting-edge methods in her coaching practice. She won a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympic Games, became the javelin throw world champion in 1995.

The annual prize of the President of the Republic of Belarus aims to stimulate the social support of specialists in physical education and sport who have devoted themselves to the training of athletes or have reached excellent results in elite sport.
