Belarusian Music Autumn to open in Minsk 5 November

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian State Philharmonic Society will play host to the 41st Belarusian Music Autumn International Art Festival from 5 through 29 November. The program of the festival includes more than 20 concerts for everyone's tastes, art director of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society, Honored Artist of Belarus Yuri Gildyuk told journalists on 30 October, BelTA has learned.

The festival will open with a concert to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of renowned composer Yuri Semenyako who wrote music for operettas and musicals and chaired the Belarusian Union of Composers. The concert will be held in the Big Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society on 5 November. The performers will be accompanied by the Zhynovich National Academic Folk Orchestra of Belarus.

Yuri Gildyuk said that the varied program of the festival features concerts commemorating outstanding figures of art. For example, a concert to mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of Irina Arkhipova will take place on 20 November. Partaking in it will be Russian musicians Vladislav Pyavko and Irina Bogacheva, Honored Artists of Belarus Oksana Volkova, Oleg Melnikov, and Vladimir Gromov.

A number of music groups will take part in the concert to commemorate Belarusian poets Rygor Borodulin and Gennady Buravkin on 10 November. “We can say that these names symbolize the last decades of the Belarusian culture. It is a great honor for us to commemorate their lives and works with a concert,” Yuri Gildyuk noted.

Partaking in the festival will be musicians from different countries. One of the oldest Russian chamber music groups Moscow Trio will give a concert on 26 November. People’s Artist of Russia, violinist Maxim Fedotov and Honored Artist of Russia, pianist Galina Petrova will play Russian music on 21 November. Honored Artist of Russia, cellist Kirill Rodin will perform on 10 November. Renowned Italian organist Eugenio Maria Fagiani will perform on the stage of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society for the first time on 27 November. The list of participants of the international art festival also includes Georgian pianist, UNESCO Artist for Peace Elisso Bolkvadze, the vocal group Camerata, and Finnish organist Julia Tamminen.
