Belarus’ Iryna Shymanovich soars 60 places up in WTA

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Iryna Shymanovich of Belarus rose 60 places in the recent edition of the WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

Before the start of the French Open the 25-year-old Belarusian was 214th. With her debut in the Grand Slam main draw and reaching its second round, Iryna Shymanovich rose to world No.154, her new career high.

Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus stays at No.2, while Victoria Azarenka goes 19th, and Aliaksandra Sasnovich 71st.

WTA Top Ten:

1. Iga Swiatek (Poland) – 8,940 points;
2. Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) – 8,012;
3. Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) – 5,090; 
4. Caroline Garcia (France) – 5,025;

the leader of the ATP rankings changed as Serbia’s Novak Djokovic returned to the top spot after winning his 23rd Grand Slam title in Paris. Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud remained No.4. Best Belarusian tennis player Ilya Ivashka goes 83rd.
