Azarenka reaches Guadalajara quarterfinal

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) - Belarus’ world number 23 Victoria Azarenka has booked her spot in the 2023 Guadalajara Open quarterfinal after defeating Russia’s world number 19 Veronika Kudermetova, 6-2, 6-1, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face France’s world number 11 Caroline Garcia, who saw off Belarus’ world number 89 Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, in the round of Last 32.

In the opener Victoria Azarenka cruised past world number 147 Robin Montgomery of the United States, 6-1, 6-1. In the second round the Belarusian beat Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, ranked World No.102, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

The tournament in Guadalajara will be over on 23 September.
