Showcasing the value of skills and raising the recognition of skilled professionals worldwide are the main objectives of the ambitious global movement WorldSkills comprising 79 countries, including Belarus since 2014. Indeed, this contest is rapidly gaining popularity among Belarusian educational establishments, enterprises and, of course, young professionals.

The final round of the third national competition WorldSkills Belarus in Minsk gathered more than 300 participants aged between 22 to 24 from different regions of the country. The opening ceremony was held in the velodorme complex of Minsk Arena on 21 May with the participation of representatives of ministries and departments, heads of enterprises, as well as delegations from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Oman, and Zimbabwe.

The competitions took place in the Indoor Football Center and Falcon Club. The participants competed in 37 skills in various fields: construction and building technology, transport and logistics, production and engineering technology, art and fashion, social and consumer services, information and communication technologies… WorldSkills Belarus also featured people with disabilities in the Web Design and Fashion Technology sections.

The assignments were developed in accordance with the international rules. Participants had only 16 hours to perform the assignment (22 hours at the world championship). The information about the assignment was not distributed in advance. The assignment completed ahead of time did not bring additional points. The winners were announced during the closing ceremony on 24 May. They will represent the country at the 2019 World Championships in Kazan on 22-28 August.
