Belarus remembers: Victory Day is celebrated all over the country!

Belarus remembers: Victory Day is celebrated all over the country!
9 May 2018

Belarus marked the 73rd anniversary of Great Victory, a holiday with tears in the eyes. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in the streets and squares of cities and towns to pay tribute to the memory of the heroes of the war. They took part in marches, rallies, historical reconstruction, concerts, and most importantly, offered sincere congratulations to the veterans. And, of course, millions of Belarusians remembered their relatives by leafing through albums with faded photos, re-reading the letters written from the front or from the territories under occupation, and by taking another look at the military awards earned by blood and sweat...

A nationwide campaign Belarus Remembers took place during traditional Victory Day celebrations. Anyone could join it by carrying portraits of family members who took part in the war.

Victory Square became the center of celebrations in Minsk Hero City. Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko laid flowers at the Victory Monument and paid silent tribute to the immortal acts of bravery of the fallen heroes. Belarus’ leader wished Happy Victory Day to Belarusians.

Gratitude for the unfadable act of courage and never-ending pain for those who gave their lives for peace – Belarus remembers Great Victory!
