Fourth international festival Vladimir Spivakov Invites

Fourth international festival Vladimir Spivakov Invites

The biennial international festival Vladimir Spivakov Invites, which is held in Moscow and Colmar (France), gathered in Minsk and Mogilev lovers of the world classics and also outstanding contemporary musicians, drama, opera and ballet artists for the fourth time.

Vladimir Spivakov, a renowned musician and conductor, ardent collector and connoisseur of painting, arrived in Minsk a day before the official opening. The Maestro conducted a rehearsal with the orchestra of the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus, visited the National Art Museum of Belarus to see the masterpieces of Belarusian and world art, including Goya and Picasso exhibition. As part of the festival Vladimir Spivakov gave a master class for young talents of the Belarusian State Academy of Music.

During the press conference dedicated to the festival, the composer admitted that he has warm regard and affection to Belarus and that he was looking forward to meeting the Belarusian audience. After the rehearsal the Maestro noted a high degree of professionalism of the orchestra of the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus and also expressed an idea to include their performance into the international program.

The program Viva La Opera of the world-famous opera diva, People’s Artist of Russia and Abkhazia Hibla Gerzmava gave a great start to the festival. She performed famous parts from the world classical repertoire accompanied by the orchestra of the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus conducted by Vladimir Spivakov.

The program of the festival also included the performances by Ulyana Lopatkina, the prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg and People’s Artist of Russia, Israeli cello virtuoso Mischa Maisky, a student of the 20th century greatest musicians Mstislav Rostropovich and Gregor Piatigorsky. One of the main events of the festival was the premiere of Roman Viktyuk’s music and drama production Tenderness featuring Sati Spivakova in the lead role.
