Autumn in Grodno

Autumn in Grodno
27 Oct 2015

The ancient Belarusian city of Grodno on the bank of the Neman River celebrates its 887th anniversary this year. Thanks to its remarkable architectural landscape, Grodno was mentioned in the 16th-century Brown’s Cologne encyclopedia as “one of the most beautiful cities of Europe”. The special atmosphere of this truly royal city, its marvelous castles and palaces, churches and cathedrals, the former Jesuit Monastery, Basilian Convent, St. Bridget Convent, St. Bernardine Monastery, Franciscan Monastery, the Lutheran Church and the Synagogue attract many tourists these days. Despite the devastating wars, the city has managed to preserve its rich heritage: in the city's center alone there are some 400 historical and cultural monuments. The most famous include the Old and the New Castles, the splendid St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with the oldest working clock in Europe, the unique 12th-century Kolozha Church nominated to the UNESCO World Heritage List, the first in Belarus pharmacy museum

Belarus.by invites you on a tour of Grodno in autumn. Enjoy the landmarks and picturesque views of the city…
