The 24th Minsk International Book Fair opened in the Belarusian capital on 8 February. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the Guest of Honor at this year's edition of the forum. Participating are the representatives of 31 countries. This year the exhibition will include nearly 300 events. The forum will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing and the 135th birthdays of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas as well as anniversaries of Pimen Panchenko, Yanka Bryl and other out standing writers. The program will include the awards ceremony of the national contest Art of the Book, the 3rd International Literary Symposium entitled Writer and Time, a seminar of young writers, and the first awards ceremony for young writers Pershatsvet.
