The most significant events in honor of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War were held in the Belarusian town of Smorgon. The Russian-German battle line went through Smorgon for 810 days and nights in 1915 - 1918. The town was practically wiped off the map. Before the war Smorgon had 16,000 inhabitants only 150 people remained in the town by December 1917…
