Lukashenko: Three national projects will help modernize Belarus

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko deems it is necessary to implement three national projects to develop the state. The head of state made the statement as he delivered the State of the Nation Address on 19 April, BelTA has learnt.

“The key task is to make Belarusian goods more competitive. In order to win the tough competition battle on the global market we should focus on improving knowledge, technologies, equipment, management systems. Therefore, renovation is the primary objective for Belarus today,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that renovation does not mean abandoning the existing model in Belarus. This is a new stage of development.

“We should rely on three large national projects which will help modernize the state. The first project is economic modernization. The second one is society informatization. The third one is youth support and large-scale involvement of young people in the state construction,” the President said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, in spite of the economic crisis the intellectual progress in the world did not slow down. On the contrary, it is skyrocketing. “I am convinced that new scientific ideas rather than intricate financial schemes will fuel the “failing engine” of the world economy. Belarus is also involved in the global whirlpool of new ideas, technologies and inventions. Though Belarus is a medium-sized European state lacking any global ambitions, we still depend on the global processes. We have little choice. We can either adapt to rapid changes or be pushed to the sidelines. These are our only choices,” the President stressed.

According to the head of state, the modern time has three major requirements, namely speed, flexibility and creativity. It is connected with the changing world, emergence of new ideas and technologies, the necessity to constantly adjust to these changes and find something new. “Those who copy everything are destined to be always lagging behind. Therefore, any young nation should, on the one hand, learn from the rest of the world and, on the other hand, always remember that at a certain stage it is essential to bring something new to the world. It is creativity that can propel us to the group of leaders,” Alexander Lukashenko is convinced.
