MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Chairman of the Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev discussed the preparations for the forthcoming session of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Bishkek which is expected to take place this week, BelTA informs.
“The CIS Executive Committee and the CIS member states have prepared a number of important resolutions which will be discussed by the presidents. These include the statement concerning the 25th anniversary of the CIS, a number of statements about politics and the war on international terrorism,” Sergei Lebedev noted.
In his words, plans have been also made to approve of the program of the CIS capitals of culture for 2017. The agenda of the summit also includes a draft resolution to announce 2017 the Year of Family, and 2018 the Year of Culture in the CIS.
Kyrgyzstan is expected to hand over the presidency in the CIS to Russia which will put forward a corresponding concept.
