Lukashenko invites Swedish business to Belarus

Lukashenko invites Swedish business to Belarus
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Erik Belfrage, Chairman of the International Council of Swedish Industry

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko invites Swedish businessmen to active cooperation. The Belarusian head of state made the relevant statement as he met with Erik Belfrage, Chairman of the International Council of Swedish Industry.

“We need concrete projects, business contacts between companies and businessmen and even between countries if there is a wish,” stressed the President.

Alexander Lukashenko asked the Swedish side to recommend about a dozen businessmen who would be interested in working in Belarus. “We could set up a business council and start working,” said the head of state. He remarked that Belarus uses similar cooperation schemes with businessmen of other countries. Besides, Swedish business has known Belarus for a long time.

The President stressed that Belarus has a strong interest in Sweden apart from the social sphere. “We have learned a lot from you and have adopted a lot. Although you criticize some things, we have learned from you,” remarked the head of state. Alexander Lukashenko also pointed out the similarity of the two economies and Sweden’s massive experience, in particular, experience in investments.

“We have prospects for cooperation with Sweden. We are ready to discuss any matters with your country,” said the President. “Sweden does not make additional demands. It is very important for us.”

In turn, Erik Belfrage mentioned Belarus’ good traditions in organizing industrial production. He believes that Belarus and Sweden have several opportunities that should be exploited. “I think that business is the aspect of cooperation that is profitable to both sides. It is the way that enables us to explore new markets, establish long-term cooperation between businessmen,” said Erik Belfrage.
