Belarus hockey team beat Germany at Vancouver 2010 Olympics

VANCOUVER, 22 February (BelTA) - Belarus beat Germany in the third game in the preliminary Group C of the hockey tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver on 20 February.

The final score was 5-3 (1-1, 1-0, 3-2). The game took place at Canada Hockey Place, home ground for the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. The match was attended by 16, 000 spectators.

Ugarov, Sergei Kostitsyn, Salei, and Kalyuzhny twice scored for Belarus.

Belarus scored 3 points and became third in the preliminary Group C.

A reminder, Belarus were defeated by Finland (1-5) on 17 February, and lost the game against Sweden (2-4) on 19 February. Meleshko scored twice against Swedes.

Belarus will face Switzerland in the play-off qualifiers on 23 February. The winner of the game will advance into the quarterfinals.

The first quarterfinal games will be played on 24 February, the semifinals are scheduled on 26 February, the third place game - 27 February and the final match – 28 February.
