Worship wooden architecture in Polesie: the Church of the Transfiguration in Khmelevo marks its 300th anniversary (2025)

The Church of the Transfiguration in Khmelevo, Zhabinka District, is one of the oldest churches in Brest Oblast. For three centuries, Orthodox believers and people of other faiths have come here with hope and gratitude seeking spiritual strength and peace. 19 August 2025 marked the 300th anniversary of the Khmelevo church and the 25th anniversary of the Transfiguration Monastery. The Feast of the Transfiguration (also known as the Apple Savior) is its patronal feast day. On this day, hundreds of people travel to venerate its sacred sites.
