The Svisloch District continues to safeguard the tradition of making Porozovo bankhukha, the unique ceremonial pastry
In 2019 it was added to Belarus’ list of intangible historical and cultural heritage. The full cooking cycle takes about 7 hours. The dough requires, for example, 60 eggs. Each yolk is added separately. The delicacy is baked over birch firewood. For 4-5 hours, two women work in turns: one spins a special spindle, the other pours dough onto it. After baking, the cake is placed on a pillow or rushnyk (traditional embroidered towel).
