War Childhood Museum in Krasny Bereg
The War Childhood Museum was opened in December 2024 and is part of the Children - Victims of the Great Patriotic War memorial complex in the village of Krasny Bereg, Zhlobin District dedicated in 2007. It commemorates the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War. During the war Nazis set up over 260 concentration camps in Belarus that became bloody factories of genocide of the Belarusian people. In Krasny Bereg the Nazis had a collecting point for children, who were forcibly taken away from their parents and made donors for German soldiers and officers or taken to Germany for slave labor. This place is also called Children's Khatyn. The Children - Victims of the Great Patriotic War memorial complex has no analogues in Belarus or in other countries. The museum inaugurated in 2024 has an impressive exposition. The memorial complex in Krasny Bereg is the project implemented by a creative team led by famous Belarusian architect Leonid Levin, who also authored the memorial complex in Khatyn. The new museum has a separate hall dedicated to him. Next to the entrance there is an exhibition hall displaying the works by schoolchildren devoted to the war childhood theme. The main part of the exposition narrates the stories of boys and girls from all over the Soviet Union, their life during the pre-war period and during the years of the Great Patriotic War.
