The new format with a qualifying semifinal for 21 singers, two final rounds for the best 15, the performance of international hits, which also was a novel concept for the Vitebsk song contest, excitement and unforgettable atmosphere... This is how the participants and the audience will remember the 23rd international song contest Vitebsk 2014. Its triumphant winner is a talented singer and composer Rodrigo de la Cadena from Mexico, a country that made its debut at Slavonic Bazaar this year. On the first day of the contest the 26-year-old singer became one of the favorites having performed the famous Kalinka-Malinka. On the second day he conquered the hearts of the jury and the audience with the legendary Besame Mucho. The awards ceremony was held in the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic Hall where the winners were named in all categories. But the Grand Prix winner Rodrigo de la Cadena got his statuette Lira a little later, at the grand closing gala of Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk. The singer confessed: "For me, a resident of a non-Slavonic country, to get the prize of Slavonic Bazaar is a big honor. It is great that the geographic boundaries of the festival have long expanded beyond Europe and the Slavonic lands. Your festival is an international event. And I'm happy to be part of it.” Video
