Venezuela stays committed to agreements, contracts with Belarus

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Venezuela continues the implementation of all the agreements and contracts with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to Belarus Americo Diaz Nunez told a press conference on 24 February, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted: “Despite a slight fall in the Belarusian-Venezuelan trade, we are on track to implement all the contracts.” There is an array of proposals and projects which are currently under consideration and pending the final decision. In his words, today about 1,000 Belarusian specialists are working in Venezuela. They are taking part in the implementation of joint projects. “Among them are industrialists, translators, builders, workers,” the diplomat said. In his words, the number of Belarusians in Venezuela has been constantly changing as the Venezuelan embassy in Minsk continues issuing new visas.

The press conference was also focused on the Hugo Chavez Park in Belarus. “We were very glad to hear about this initiative. Hugo Chavez, during one of his visits to Minsk, was taken on a tour of the Minsk residential district Kamennaya Gorka. The trip became a stimulus to the development of Venezuela’s construction industry and an improved Belarusian-Venezuelan cooperation in the area,” the diplomat said. Americo Diaz Nunez also stressed that Minsk City Hall had invited the embassy staff to discuss the concept of the Hugo Chavez Park.
