UAE Prosecutor: Belarus keeps human trafficking problem under rigid control

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – Human trafficking problem is under a strict control in Belarus, Senior First Rank Prosecutor of the UAE Prosecution Office Waleed Mohamed Albani AlAhmad told journalists on 24 November, BelTA has learned.

“The relations between the UAE and Belarus are close. Our group is not the first one that undergoes training at the counter-human trafficking center of the Belarusian Interior Ministry. I know that Belarus provides very good training in this field. Belarus keeps the problem of human trafficking under a strict control and is closely studying it. This is why it is useful for our specialists from the Interior Ministry, Justice Ministry, General Prosecutor’s Office, and the emergency center for the victims of human trafficking to study Belarus’ experience,” the Senior Prosecutor said.

The representative of the UAE Prosecution Office added that the UAE and Belarus should join their efforts against human trafficking. “The countries can exchange delegations and groups of students in the future,” he noted.

The representatives of the UAE National Committee on Combating Human Trafficking are undergoing a training course at the International Training Center for Migration and Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Academy of the Belarusian Interior Ministry from 24 to 28 November.

The course includes the study of the international and national laws in this area, the best world and national practices of detecting and investigating offences related to trafficking in persons, and the issues of ensuring the safety and security of the victims of human trafficking. Apart from the professors of the Academy of the Interior Ministry of Belarus, the lectures are given by representatives of the Supreme Court of Belarus, the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Interior Ministry, the Investigative Committee, the State Border Committee, the International Organization for Migration, and the program La Strada.

The training course is expected to help officers of the UAE law enforcement agencies involved in detection, investigation and solution of crimes connected with human trafficking and illegal migration to hone their professional skills and to develop a common approach to the protection of the rights of the victims of trafficking in human beings.
