Tozik: National culture, education and book printing have strong state support in Belarus

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) - National culture, education, and book printing have strong public support in Belarus, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik said at the Belarusian Written Language Day in Bykhov on 1 September, BelTA learned.

Book withstands competition with other information media, said Anatoly Tozik. More than 11,000 titles of books and brochures of 33 million copies were published in Belarus last year alone. Almost 1,530 periodicals covering all areas of public life are published in the country. All this creates the conditions for the all-round development of an individual that is the most important factor in the further development of the country.

“Every year we pay tribute to all those who made invaluable contribution to the development of the national culture, art and book printing,” Anatoly Tozik said. This year the Belarusian Written Language Day celebrations are hosted by Bykhov, the land of hardworking and talented people who have their own cultural identity and centuries-old traditions, the Vice Premier noted. The preparations for the event have perked up the city and included renovations to the bus and railway stations, the sports center, the cultural center, the cinema house, the defensive towers of the ancient castle.

On behalf of the national organizing committee of the Belarusian Written Language Day, Anatoly Tozik expressed gratitude to all who were engaged in the preparations for the event: the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, Bykhov District Executive Committee, the ministries of information, sports and tourism, education, culture, transport, trade, Belcoopsoyuz, residents of the town and mass media.
