Thierry Mariani: Closer economic ties contribute to Belarus-France political rapprochement

STRASBOURG, 26 June (BelTA) – Stronger economic ties between Belarus and France are the first step towards better political relations, PACE MP, Member of the National Assembly of France, vice-president of the France-Belarus parliamentary friendship group Thierry Mariani has told BelTA. He is attending the PACE session which is running in Strasbourg on 24-28 June. The Belarusian parliamentary delegation has also been invited to attend.

Thierry Mariani said with confidence that at present the Belarus-France economic relations are experiencing a new growth phase, which is in many ways due to numerous events that are jointly held by Belarus and France. Thierry Mariani also gave credit to the Belarusian Ambassador to France who makes a significant contribution to the work.

“Belarus deserves to be known. Unlike other former republics of the USSR, it has managed to avoid violence during its transition period,” the PACE member underlined.

“Belarus’ economic success is incontestable,” Thierry Mariani said.

He voiced the opinion of French entrepreneurs who say that Belarus boasts a number of economic advantages compared to other countries. The French take this fact into consideration while choosing business partners.
