Svetlov: Grodno Festival of National Cultures may be nominated for Guinness Book

Svetlov: Grodno Festival of National Cultures may be nominated for Guinness Book

GRODNO, 9 June (BelTA) - The Festival of National Cultures in Grodno can be nominated for the Guinness Book of World Records, Belarus Culture Minister Boris Svetlov told BelTA during the festival.

According to him, around 100 various festivals are regularly conducted in Belarus. But the festival in Grodno is unique. It brings together the cultural might of the country according to a very interesting principle, which is the uniqueness of nationalities and ethnicities. The originality of the culture of each people living in Belarus is not very pronounced in everyday life, and the festival shows them in full color, said the minister.

The Festival of National Cultures is unique. There are no festivals dedicated to the culture and life of the ethnicities living within one country. So it may well be nominated for the entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. According to the minister, next year this matter will be explored in detail. It provides for, among other things, certain financial expenses.

According to Boris Svetlov, the festival in Grodno allows us to experience the deep and multi-faceted emotions of the unity of people. "There is a saying that the man is as many times the man depending on how many languages he speaks. From a wider perspective, we can say that the state is many times the state depending on how many ethnicities live on its territory. This year the festival was attended by representatives of more than 30 national cultures. They all live in Belarus and have the opportunity to develop their culture, thus making a great contribution to the culture of Belarus. This is a very important phenomenon that works exclusively for the benefit of the state,” the minister said.
