Svetlov: Golden Hit festival a landmark cultural event for Belarus

MOGILEV, 10 October (BelTA) – The International Music Festival Golden Hit has become a landmark cultural event for Belarus, Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov said at the opening ceremony of the 13th festival in Mogilev on 10 October, BelTA learned.

“The music festival brings together outstanding artists, continues the best traditions of musical song culture, unites the cultural space of the CIS and other countries, and embodies the idea of continuity of generations in culture and art,” Boris Svetlov said.

According to Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Piotr Rudnik, the Golden Hit festival has become a hallmark of Mogilev, and is a big event in the cultural life of the country. Every year, the festival expands in terms of styles and genres. Over its history Golden Hit has welcomed artists from more than 25 countries. “Our festival differs from other music forums as it boasts a special warm, almost home-like atmosphere. Thousands of spectators of all ages look forward to the festival," said the Governor.

The 13th festival has assembled a great variety of different styles and genres. “I am sure that it will not leave anyone indifferent, and we can all enjoy its wonderful "flavor". This would be one of the highlights in the cultural life of Mogilev which is the capital of culture of Belarus and the CIS in 2013,” said Piotr Rudnik.

The International Music Festival Golden Hit was first held in November 1995, with the support of President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The festival is designed to preserve and continue the best traditions of musical song culture. A song contest has been reinstituted at the festival this year.
