MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – CIS forums of creative and academic intellectuals have become a new tradition, a new form of communication for representatives of various sectors of the former USSR member states. These forums generate new ideas for advancing innovation projects, Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, Ambassador at Large and Co-Chair of the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, told BelTA ahead of the official opening ceremony of the 8^th CIS Forum of Creative and Academic Intellectuals which is due at the National Library of Belarus on 24 September.

“A great deal of projects was considered at the previous forums, with some of them being of global value. Environmental issues (the theme chosen to this year’s forum) mean, first of all, big-time politics, business and financial resources which can be used for humanitarian cooperation between countries,” Mikhail Shvydkoi noted. He expressed hope that proposals which are to be discussed at the forum would keep and multiply those ultramodern innovations the CIS member states have.

The forum will be held under the motto “2013 is the Year of Ecological Culture and Environmental Protection in the CIS”. Partaking in the event will be delegations from 10 CIS member states: representatives of creative and academic intellectuals in education, culture, healthcare, ecology and nature protection activities, mass media, humanitarian activity.
