Shagal: Israel’s government decides to abolish visas with Belarus

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – The Israeli government has taken the decision to abolish visas with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Yosef Shagal said in an interview to the SB. Belarus Today newspaper, BelTA has learned.

“The Government of the State of Israel took the decision to eliminate the visa regime with Belarus. I think that Catholic and Orthodox believers who are going to Jerusalem, Nazareth for Christmas are likely to go there visa-free. The same as all other citizens of Israel and Belarus,” the Ambassador said.

Speaking about the cooperation with Belarus in general, the diplomat reminded the newspaper about the future Belarusian-Israeli Technological Park. “As Ambassador I see big prospects and opportunities for the Israeli economy and investment. We make good products and it pertains not only to technology and innovations. We produce everything, from cheese to watering systems,” he said.

“I call upon investors to invest here (in Belarus – BelTA’s note) since the country has highly-qualified personnel and good conditions. We only need technologies. Israel has them. From the technological point of view, it is worth investing in the Belarusian agriculture since it has great opportunities. Today you have Russian vans lining up for our products. As soon as the time for vans from the European Union comes, you will be in the groove,” Yosef Shagal said.

According to the diplomat, in all respects Belarus has every chance to make it into the world’s top ten food suppliers. “The food issue is the issue of the future. Belarus is oriented in the right direction strategically,” he said.

“Israel is a good partner because we are ready to share technologies. As I said very soon we will abolish visas, and our cooperation will see a new momentum,” the diplomat added.
