MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) –Russia is interested in the experience of Belarus’ development in conditions of economic sanctions enforced by Western countries. The statement was made by Natalia Burykina, Chairwoman of the Financial Market Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, as she met with top executives of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) on 20 September, BelTA has learned.
“The challenges the Russian Federation faces now Belarus faced in its time as well. This is why we are interested in the experience that Belarus had within the framework of certain restrictions. We would like to understand how your country handled this experience, what processes Belarus launched. We may implement something you had to do in the past because now the Belarusian economy is developing rather successfully,” stated Natalia Burykina.
In her words, meetings in Minsk will also focus on the harmonization of the legislation of the two countries. “We would like to exchange opinions with colleagues from the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus regarding topical matters of legislation harmonization in the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the Single Economic Space, and during the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Integration in the Customs Union has begun successfully. Our ties grow stronger,” stated Natalia Burykina.
In turn, NBRB First Deputy Chairman of the Board Taras Nadolnyi noted that the meeting with the Russian MPs will focus on “synchronizing watches” within the framework of integration processes between the two countries. “We will share experience with regard to new trends in the legal sphere as the main sphere that regulates financial markets, currency policy and legislation,” explained Taras Nadolnyi.
The visit of the Russian parliament delegation has been organized for the sake of sharing experience and maintaining ties between the parliaments of Belarus and Russia. Apart from the meeting with NBRB executives the Russian MPs will also meet with their Belarusian counterparts and will visit a number of enterprises in Belarus.
