Rubinov: Belarus, Vietnam work consistently to strengthen cooperation

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Vietnam have been working consistently toward the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rubinov said as he met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong on 27 November, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Rubinov noted that five years ago Nguyen Phu Trong visited Belarus in the capacity of the Chairman of the Vietnamese Parliament. “Today, five years later, we can certainly state that over this period of time our cooperation has become even closer. Both countries have been implementing a coherent policy towards strengthening the ties in all fields,” Anatoly Rubinov said.

He noted that the history of the diplomatic relations between the two states may seem not long, less than 20 years. In practice, the Belarusian and Vietnamese peoples started cooperating already in the times of the Soviet Union. Thus, the countries, in fact, have a long history of cooperation in various areas.

The present visit of Nguyen Phu Trong to Belarus will give impetus to the development of the ties between the two states, Anatoly Rubinov believes. “We view our cooperation with your country as one of Belarus’ top priorities in the Asian region,” he noted.
