Rauland: Belarus urged to do more to promote its investment opportunities

BREST, 16 September (BelTA) - Belarus needs to provide more information to potential investors about the business environment and opportunities in the country, U.S. Charge d'affaires in Belarus Scott Rauland said when asked by BelTA about the forthcoming first Belarusian-American investment forum.

I think it is important to inform the investors from any country about the conditions in Belarus. America is far from Europe, from Belarus. Of course, Belarus needs to work harder to inform Americans about local opportunities. It is certainly a good idea, a good initiative from the Belarusian side, he said, adding that the Belarusian-American investment forum is a project of the Belarusian Embassy in Washington.

The first Belarusian-American investment forum will be held in New York on 22 September. Attending the forum will be Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The U.S. Charge d'affaires in Belarus is in Brest Oblast on a working visit. He met with Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Konstantin Sumar. On 15 September, Scott Rauland attended a ceremony to present an award of the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation to the Brest Fortress Development Foundation. The new project to document the outer fortifications of Brest-Litovsk Fortress received a grant for $101,000.
