Rascan: Slovenian companies interested in cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - Slovenian companies are interested in cooperation with Belarus in various fields, Stanislav Rascan, Director General of the Directorate for Economic Diplomacy and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, said during the Belarus-Slovenia business forum in Minsk, BelTA has learnt.

“Slovenian companies show interest in cooperation with Belarus. Today our businessmen will present their suggestions that, I hope, will be successfully carried out in the future,” Stanislav Rascan said. The forum features Riko company currently implementing a number of projects in Belarus, Albin Promotion multi-industry company that is eager to cooperate with Belarusian partners in the production of energy using rubber scrap, and Duol engineering company. Besides, partaking in the forum are representatives of the PanSlovenian Shareholders’ Association, the Transport and Communications Association, and the International Relations Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia.

Over the last years Belarus and Slovenia have strengthened their cooperation. The effective work of the Belarus-Slovenia intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation contributed to the development of ties between the two countries. “The volume of trade in goods between our countries today is not large. However, over the last several years we have significantly intensified our cooperation, and this year the volume of trade continues to grow. At the same time there are many areas for cooperation that we have not developed yet. Now we should pay special attention to these areas,” Stanislav Rascan said. Among the promising fields he named information and telecommunication technologies, transport, logistics, and tourism.

The Belarus-Slovenia business forum and business matchmaking session have been organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia with the support of the Embassy of Slovenia in Russia and Belarus (concurrent accreditation). The events are held as part of the third session of the Belarus-Slovenia intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation held in Minsk on 12-13 December.
